"It was, and still is, a big challenge for us to integrate 800 years of family tradition with today’s modern wine demands, so that both aspects strengthen each other mutually," states Donatus Landgrave of Hesse.
The interplay of `tradition and modernity´ is reflected in all sectors of the wine estate. While the wines, with their bright, lively and fresh expression, demonstrate a modern style, the focus on Riesling is a commitment to Rheingau tradition.
This philosophy is also pursued in the wine range and in the label designs. Consumers should be offered wines with a straight forward appearance, which is clearly achieved for the estate wines. For those, the traditional site denominations are deliberately not used, although the grapes quite often originate from classified sites. The town and site appellations are used only for a few wines.
